The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Commercial and Engineering, the Calgary-based Senior Commercial Specialist will provide critical support to the Wolf Pipeline business with a strong focus on customer service, commercial development, and energy market dynamics. The role will provide critical information to the Pipeline Leadership team and will be involved in both the day-to-day and long-term planning. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven individual with an exceptional history of high performance, excellent analytical and presentation skills to be a key contributing member of the team, furthering opportunities for our growing Pipeline business.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed understanding of pipelines, connections, and commercial agreements
- Manage existing customer relationships ensuring exceptional customer service is delivered
- Model commercial development projects to determine economic viability
- Develop commodity and industry macro fundamentals models and presentations to support growth initiatives.
- Present commercial development opportunities to Senior Leadership
- Work with Senior Leadership to evaluate growth opportunities that align with the strategic direction of Wolf through various models and presentation materials
- Support Engineering team during project development and execution phases to ensure project economics are achieved
- Attend industry functions and develop customer relationships to foster and support existing commerce as well as new commercial opportunities
- Work with the Shipper Services and Operation teams to understand and support operational issues, volume nominations and customer requirements
- Work closely with accounting to ensure accuracy of invoicing, volume balancing and reconciliations
- Liaise with internal stakeholders like Corporate Development and Corporate Accounting to provide Pipeline business updates on a monthly and quarterly basis
Qualifications and Experience
Skills:
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills will be a requirement with the candidate being able to perform time sensitive tasks daily
- Ability to summarize and present complex data in easy-to-understand ways
- High proficiency in the Microsoft suite of programs, mainly Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI
- An ability to demonstrate strong comprehension of the interplay between upstream, midstream and downstream commerce in the energy industry
- An in depth understanding of North American energy markets, in particular, Crude Oil and LPG markets
- Ability to play many roles on a small, execution-focused team where there will be little ability to rely upon others to complete the work
Education:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Business or Engineering
Experience:
- 7+ years of Commercial Development experience in the energy industry, preferably in the midstream sector
- Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact with numerous stakeholders
- Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and an ability to work in a lean organization
