The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, and horse racing sectors and private cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

Join our newly formed Strategic Planning & Management branch within I&IT as a Program Specialist. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively with a supportive team to help execute the overall IT strategy, capture, and share I&IT business value, and support the development, engagement, and growth of our I&IT workforce. In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of I&IT divisional programs including coordination of activities within the Office of the CIO and divisional partners.
  • Ensure the operations and implementation of divisional programs within the I&IT division are coordinated, meeting expected objectives, and performed in accordance with AGCO policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Senior Manager of Strategic Planning and Management to develop and centralize administrative functional support for I&IT.
  • Liaise with branches across the AGCO to coordinate the implementation of new or modified I&IT division programs.
  • Assist the Senior Manager of Strategic Planning and Management along with the I&IT Leadership team to set and develop strategies and implementation plans including support to the Digital Strategy, corresponding IT strategy and creation of a divisional I&IT workforce strategy.
  • Support the defining of objectives, frameworks, and metrics for I&IT strategic planning process.
  • Conduct research on relevant IT/technological or operational imperatives on behalf of I&IT division and report on findings.
  • Identify, research, and analyze operational issues at the divisional level that may have potential impact on divisional strategies or implementation plans, and provide recommendations to I&IT leadership team on risk and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop reports, dashboards and/or presentations that communicates performance achievements, progress to goals and measured business value of IT strategical investments.
  • Prepare and carry out reporting on agreed cadence with IT leadership team and senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day functions of the Branch and the Office of the CIO, develop, maintain, and support administrative processes when required for the I&IT Division.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Post-secondary education in business, IT, or related field and a minimum 2 years of related work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and other business productivity applications i.e., Visio, Forms, Adobe Acrobat, Miro
  • Practical working knowledge of project management, business analytical and process improvement methodologies.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills – ability to independently draft and develop written presentations, documents and reports as well as effectively communicate verbally to stakeholders of varying levels.
  • High level of discretion and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality with highly sensitive information.
  • Experience in creating templates, documentation and processes to support program, project, and administrative needs.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build effective relationship across all levels.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
