The Government of Ontario is committed to Ontario’s new online market for internet gaming (iGaming) that is both competitive and protects consumers. iGaming Ontario was established in July 2021 as an agency of the Government of Ontario to conduct and manage internet gaming in the province when provided by private gaming operators.
iGaming Ontario is seeking a Senior Analyst, Market Insights to develop and deliver data-driven insights through the design and execution of complex analytical models in support of the development, implementation and maintenance of iGaming Ontario’s market insights and data analytics program.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Market Insights, the successful candidate will:
- Lead the design and delivery of data analytics projects to inform strategic decision making and drive business outcomes.
- Assist in the ongoing development of a data analytics program for the reporting of key insights and metrics on the Ontario iGaming market and act as a data subject matter expert as part of an interdisciplinary insights team.
- Oversee the data pipeline and execute tasks required to successfully populate the Data Analytics solution with reliable and properly structured data for analytical use.
- Maintain a deep understanding of enterprise-wide systems and the iGO data environment through technical study and engagement with internal stakeholders and external data providers
The ideal candidate must have:
- University Degree in Analytics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research Business Administration, Economics or related field with 5+ years’ experience applying analytics techniques to business problems
- Superior knowledge of R programming language. Knowledge of Python is an asset.
- Strong competency in business intelligence and reporting tools, specifically Power BI.
- Knowledge of database modeling and data warehousing principles, including experience with writing SQL queries. Experience with Microsoft Azure platform an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of statistics and data mining algorithms including decision trees, clustering, regression, and neural networks
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and issues management.
- Excellent ability to conceptualize, evaluate, and problem-solve.
- Strategic thinker possessing sound judgement and sensitivity to issues and ability to work with a diverse client group and staff at all levels of the agency.
