Safety Investigator

The big picture:
Have your career take off with us! As a Safety Investigator within our Safety & Quality team, you will lead investigations with respect to safety reports and assist in conducting risk assessments and implementing, tracking, and validating the effectiveness of corrective actions plans.
While performing functional role of a Safety Investigator, you would be enthusiastically demonstrating AirSprint’s Corporate Values in everything you do. With a thorough knowledge of CARs, understanding of safety management principles and continuous improvement mindset you will be promoting safety culture by focusing on identifying the possible root cause(s), developing the corrective action plans, and preventing recurrences.
In this role you will:
- Conduct investigations with respect to safety occurrences, hazards, incidents, and accidents.
- Obtain and review evidence in support of the investigation which may include safety reports, employee interviews, air traffic control recordings, weather data and aircraft maintenance history.
- Ensure investigative actions are accurately documented.
- Notify the Management Team immediately if, during the investigation, a regulatory non-compliance is discovered.
- Assist with and/or conduct risk assessments and root cause analysis.
- Present investigation results to applicable Department Heads.
- Recommend, implement, track, and verify the effectiveness of corrective action plans.
- Liaise with Maintenance and Flight Operations quality assurance personnel as required.
- Participate in data collection and data analysis, including the identification of trends.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor Civil Aviation Daily Occurrence Reporting System (CADORS) and industry reports to identify potential hazards and/or possible exposure to risks within the organization.
- Assist third-party auditors as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Safety & Quality
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Aviation Safety Diploma or at least 3 years of prior experience in aviation SMS, safety investigations, risk assessment, root cause and trend analysis
- Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS) with respect to airline operations, airworthiness, and safety management
- Familiarity with flight operations, dispatch and maintenance operations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications
Bonus points if you have:
- A diploma/ certification in Accident and Incident Investigation/ aviation safety investigation or related field.
- Pilot or aircraft maintenance experience.
