AV Group NB Inc. Atholville Mill is currently recruiting for the following position: Power Engineer Apprentice
If you would like to complete a trade and work in an industrial environment, come work with us and we will provide you with the required work experience and training! As a Power Engineer Apprentice Spare you will be enrolled in the 4th Class Power Engineering program to complete the required course work for the 4th class ticket. The successful applicant will work as a Spare Labourer in the Steam & Recovery department operating and maintaining a power plant.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Study for and successfully complete the 4th Class Power Engineering program.
- Write the Provincial Public Safety exams (Part A&B) for the 4th Class Power Engineering provincial license.
- Monitor control of operation through DCS (distributed computer system), Effectively troubleshoot equipment.
- Maintain accurate and thorough log entries and perform necessary testing.
- Optimize and control materials to efficiently treat and dispose into recovery system.
- Work in collaboration of other operators.
- Lubricates, oils, and assists in preventative maintenance on all machinery.
- Maintains proper housekeeping in all related steam plant areas.
- Responds to trouble calls and carries out necessary corrective action during weekends and off shifts.
- Assists in the maintenance of all mechanical and life safety supportive systems installed in the hospital complex including automatic controls.
- Participate in plant equipment repairs & installations.
- Interface with necessary contractual & inspection departments for corrective requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year course with a post-secondary institution or industrial related work experience is preferred.
- Must be willing to achieve their 2nd class ticket within the timeframe indicated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and move up the line of progression in the Steam & Recovery department.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, overtime and in-calls.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience considered an asset.
