Circle of Care is hosting an in-person hiring event 9:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at our head office located at 4211 Yonge Street, Toronto! We will be considering Personal Support Workers for opportunities to work in the surrounding neighborhood with a July start date. SUMMARY
As a PSW with Circle of Care you will provide the highest quality of care to your clients in the community. You understand that your clients are dealing with illness or frailty, and simple tasks can prove challenging for them. Your job involves providing personal care to seniors living in their homes including: grooming, bathing, dressing, and toileting and meal preparation. You may also be asked to perform some light housekeeping, and companionship or emotional support. You are comfortable travelling to and from client’s homes throughout the day within the community. You partner with your Nurse Supervisor and Service Coordinator in order to ensure client satisfaction and address any client wellness concerns.

Risk, Health and Safety Management
Accountability Standards:
• Identifying and reporting health and safety incidents and concerns in a timely manner to the appropriate supervisors and/or funders, documenting incidents in
EasyCare and escalating appropriately to the designated supervisors as outlined in the Client Safety Reporting policy (C.01.38).
• Participating in health and safety processes and procedures
• Participating in maintaining a safe workplace environment by cultivating a positive safety culture and encouraging best practices to promote both staff and client
safety and well-being
• Participating in all health and safety training initiatives on a regular basis.
• Taking proactive action against client incidents within your scope of practice.
• Developing a plan to identify, manage and/or minimize client safety risks or situations in adherence with risk management operations policies
• Assessing the severity of an adverse client safety/risk event and determining the best follow-up and developing an action plan following the event. Collaborating
with funder (ex. HCCSS) and following any additional processes as required.
• Calling emergency services (911) when the client is at an immediate risk of harming themselves or others, or if there is a serious injury and/or imminent harm.
• Evaluating any potential hazards and identifying clients at risk for adverse health and safety events, taking preventative measures when necessary to minimize
reoccurrence.
• Reporting all safety events impacting clients, caregivers and families in a timely and honest disclosure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Able to access ZOOM for video interview
• Current Immunization Records
• Fluency in both verbal and written English
• Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from a curriculum approved by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities or Ministry of Education OR
• Developmental Support Worker (DSW) Certification OR
• Registered Nurse (RN)/Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) student with a minimum successful completion of one year of school OR
• Foreign-trained Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse, Midwife or Physician
We also accept candidates with the following educational backgrounds:
• Home Support Worker (Level II or Level III) Certification OR
• Health Care Aide or Personal Attendant PA+2 OR
• Registered Nurse (RN)/Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)/Paramedic Certificate OR
• Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant/Communications Disorder Assistant Certificate from a recognized community college OR
• Is registered with and/or successfully completed the Certification exam required to register with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC); OR
• Foreign-trained Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Social Worker, Dietician.
