The Opportunity

The Legal Assistant will be pivotal in supporting our corporate legal team in Ottawa. In this role, you will be working closely with our Legal Team in ensuring that effective legal support is provided to the senior management team and key stakeholders.  You will be part of a legal team that is hardworking, dedicated, and supportive.  

Key responsibilities of this role include, at a minimum: 

·       Drafting legal documents:

Assisting the Legal Team in drafting legal documents such as contracts, correspondence, and related legal documents. Excellent writing skills and  familiarliarity with egal terminology and formatting is required.

·       Managing files and documents:

Maintaining files and ensuring that all necessary documents are organized and up to date. This includes organizing documents, creating indexes, and maintaining corporate electronic files and records.

·      

·   Providing administrative support:

Providing administrative support to the Legal Team such as  scheduling meetings, and filing documents.

·       Maintaining confidentiality:

Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to high ethical standards in all aspects of your work, including being highly trustworthy and maintaining the confidentiality of all corporate information and legal matters.

 

Requirements

·       Between 1 to 2 years professional experience as a legal assistant preferably in private practice environment

·       Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills

·       Resourceful and motivated to learn new skills

·       Proficiency with computer applications including real estate software and Teraview

·       Strong attention to detail and organization

·       Willingness to learn and be coached. 

·       Proven ability to multi-task

·       Positive attitude and ability to work as part of team

·       New or recent graduates possessing the above skills may be considered for this position.
