Salary:  $61,000- $80,900

Position Description:  Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of Indwell’s supportive housing programs.  Supervising and providing leadership around program operations including employees, volunteers and students: ensuring the provision of a supportive environment. Working as an interdisciplinary team, Indwell’s programs provide housing and supports to tenants within a community approach, bridging tenants to essential housing and health services. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Indwell’s leadership to uphold Indwell’s organizational mission, vision and values. This position will require a high level of resilience and a willingness to work in close proximity to challenging situations. At times, this position will also require substantial flexibility to meet program needs.

Hours: Full-time 12 month contract.  40hrs per week with flexibility required. Primarily weekdays, although hours are variable based on program needs. On-call duties required. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

 

Program Management    

 

  • Promote and demonstrate the vision, mission and values of Indwell within the workplace and the community.   
  • Establish and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with community and health partners that support the team and tenants. 
  • Plan, develop, coordinate and evaluate the teams, activities, and tenant supports. 
  • Ensure that program activities support tenant needs.   
  • Ensure compliance with all standards and regulations.  
  • Support the delivery and review of quality services and care.
  • Assure thorough debrief with program staff for all critical incidents and occurrences.
  • Be attuned to team dynamics: Implement strategies and processes that support the development and maintenance of positive and professional team culture. 
  • Consistently collaborating and communicating with Indwell Senior Leadership and Staff to identify and problem solve around gaps in service, systems, and processes. 
  • Support roll-out of new assessment tools to program staff and tenants. 
  • Reviewing Landlord Tenant Board and Occupancy Agreement process, as needed, in collaboration with the Program Supervisor, and representing Indwell at possible hearings and resolution meetings. 
  • Responsible for program budget oversight, rent ledger, and associated reporting requirements.  

 
Team Participation and Leadership    

  

  • Work collaboratively with all supervisors, directors, and managers to promote Indwell’s organizational goals. 
  • Organize and lead regular team meetings and attend other agency meetings as required. 
  • Supervise and support employees, students, and volunteers, providing leadership and direction.  
  • Ability to engage in self-reflection around interpersonal dynamics, leadership skills, professional practice and apply learnings. 
  • Participate in professional development or other relevant training programs. 
  • Keep apprised of new research and developments relevant to your role, through workshops, journals, websites and literature and transfer knowledge back to the team and tenants in the most effective manner available.   
  • Demonstrate creativity and encourage enthusiasm around strategic planning and implementation. 
  • Foster a sense of belonging for both tenants and staff in each program. 
  • Conduct and document regular check-ins with staff and complete employee performance evaluations and development plans. 
  • Support, encourage, and coach leadership development for interested team members. 
  • Ensure consistent and clear direction to program staff around maintaining and protecting tenant health records and high standards of health care practice. 
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to learning and supporting diverse individuals and communities (i.e. cultural safety, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice), while leading the teams in the same.  
  • Provide oversight to the coordination of scheduling and on-call responsibilities. 
  • Perform on-call responsibilities as required.  
  • Oversee a thorough onboarding and orientation process for new employees, students, and volunteers and seek additional resources as required. 
  • Participate in and/or lead the staff recruitment process as needed, in collaboration with Regional Manager, Program Supervisor, and HR Team.   
  • Support staff in their efforts to engage tenants in achieving their goals and encourage independence and recovery. 
  • Support the team / staff responses to tenant complaints/concerns. 
  • Provide front line support as needed, as a member of the interdisciplinary team. 
  • Participate and contribute to relevant Cross Regional Teams. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.    

  

Tenant Supports    

  

  • As a representative of a faith-based organization, recognize and promote the role of spirituality in personal development, and provide support and guidance as required. 
  • Develop and maintain a supportive relationship and therapeutic rapport with tenants. 
  • Manage rent, occupancy, and tenant relations in accordance with the Indwell Policies, Agreements, and the Residential Tenancies Act.    
  • Lead, coordinate and/or participate in case conferences with external stakeholders as required. 
  • Apply evidence-based practice, influence policy and program development, identify relevant and appropriate trauma informed care that promotes hope and trust. 
  • Oversee the intake process for new tenants and support the team with coordinating move-ins and tenant welcome. 
  • Provide oversight in the service planning process which is individualized to each tenant. Inclusive of collaboration with internal and external supports, ensuring tenants needs are met and goals are established. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery models, including harm reduction strategies around substance use. 

  

Building/Facilities    

  

  • Complete required safety checks and inspections as assigned. 
  • Work professionally and in collaboration with Indwell’s Facilities Teams and outside contractors. 
  • Monitor and ensure implementation of the Integrated Pest Management policy.      
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment. 
  • Use appropriate procedures when responding to emergency situations, 
  • Develop an expertise in organizational policy and procedures, while encouraging compliance amongst team members. 
  • Attend and participate in all required training to maintain and develop new skills.  
  • Other duties as required.   

  

Administration   

  

  • Complete and submit required reports in a timely manner in accordance with agency policy and procedures. 
  • Ensure thorough record keeping including minute taking, client files, occupancy statistics and financial records. 
  • Ensure information is entered into the organization’s data system.    

  

Community and Public Relations    

  

  • Promote Indwell to increase community awareness of Indwell’s mission and programs. 
  • Participate on community tables and committees. Encourage staff participation when needed. 
  • In collaboration with the Community Development and Engagement Team, participate and promote fundraising activities and events.    

  

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  

  • Post-secondary education in psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field required.
  • A commitment to upholding and modeling the standards set out in the organization’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith and other operating standards and policies.  
  • Three years of managerial experience, preferably in a social service setting.
  • Experience in mental health, addictions, and/or affordable housing is an asset. 
  • A warmth, sensitivity, and a caring attitude.  
  • An ability to work independently, be flexible, and take initiative.  
  • An ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.  
  • Access to a car and valid “G” class driver’s license.
