Title:                            Transit Inspector – BRT Division

Company:                   Miller Transit Limited 

Location:                    Richmond Hill, ON

Reports to:                 Operations Supervisor 

Start Date:                  To Be Determined

 

Responsibilities: In the position of Transit Inspector your responsibilities will include but not be

limited to:                    

  • Monitor, maintain service schedules for various areas in York Region
  • Maintain discipline and enforce compliance with company policy and procedures
  • Abide by the Collective Agreement and good knowledge of same
  • Communicate with drivers, customers and York Region personnel
  • Communicate with Miller Control Centre and respond to requests
  • Driver and passenger complaint investigation & response.
  • Responsible for conducting safety talks, ride and trail checks
  • Accident investigation and reporting
  • Assist spill clean up and written report
  • Required training to be able to cross train in Dispatch and Control Centre
  • Knowledge of all routes in the YRT Service area with the ability to operate and provide service when required
  • Act as a cover driver as required
  • Assist with route training
  • Serve on selected committees as required
  • Fare box repairs as required
  • Other duties as required

 

Requirements: Successful candidates must possess:           

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Exceptional experience in accident investigation
  • Good understanding of MTO procedures, policies and Highway Traffic Act.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in the transit industry
  • BZ driver’s license required in good standing with a clean abstract
  • Must successfully complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • Strong computer skills are required with the ability to complete reports
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to work shifts including split shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Able to work in various weather and traffic conditions
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment would be preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of geographic locations and vehicle routing opportunities within the YRT service area.
  • Must be extremely flexible and have the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
