Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the division’s strategy and set key performance indicators for the division and staff;
- Management and mentorship of Intermediate and Junior Geotechnical Engineers, including advising on training and professional development for staff;
- Identify resource fluctuations and assist with recruiting key staff, as required;
- Act as the key contact with clients and sub-consultants on projects;
- Lead the creation of detailed Geotechnical design reports and packages;
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety by design principals in the project work;
- Prepare estimates for design and construction packages;
- Respond to questions from construction crews, customers, utilities, and relevant third parties;
- Review project deliverables and act as Professional of Record (POR) as required;
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget on Geotechnical projects;
- Chair periodic status meetings;
- Drive Business Development and the pursuit of new clients for expansion into targeted markets, and maintaining relationships with existing clients to foster repeat business;
- Lead, participate, and contribute to RFP processes including developing execution methodology and estimating hours and costs for various opportunities;
- Actively contribute to growing RAM’s revenue and obtain client satisfaction by performance excellence; and
- Collaborate with other divisions to actively promote RAM and its other services.
Idea Candidate Requirements
- 12+ years of progressive Geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on infrastructure projects, including industrial, utilities and/or municipal;
- University Degree in Geotechnical / Geological or Civil Engineering and appropriate experience;
- Registered as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) and Project Management Professional designation are preferable;
- Ability and experience acting as a Professional of Record is an asset;
Awareness of adjacent scopes of practice and ability to oversee professional teams in related fields and act as Coordinating Registered Professional;
- Experience with business development activities including the RFP process and Proposal preparation/submission;
- Well-networked within the BC and/or Western Canada industry;
- Project Management/Coordination for engineering assignments; and
- Strong technical, oral and written communication skills.
