RVA is looking Full-Time Intermediate Municipal Engineer to join their Halifax and/or Moncton office.
Duties:
- Providing project engineering and technical expertise, modeling, analysis and design services on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Participating in studies, assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration.
- Preparation, coordination, and management of preliminary and final designs for road reconstruction and infrastructure renewal projects, including watermain, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, culverts, roads and grading.
- Preparation and coordination of approvals for above-noted projects and coordination with utilities.
- Preparation and editing of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or Microstation/InRoads design drawings as required.
- Prepare and contribute to transportation studies including multi-modal studies, transportation master plans, environmental assessments, traffic impact studies, TDM, active transportation and parking studies for various company offices.
- Support RVA project managers in the completion of technical analysis, client and stakeholder liaison, project management, and proposal preparation for a variety of public and private sector clients.
- Ability to work effectively with consultants, contractors, developers, elected officials, and other internal and external clients and stakeholders to meet deliverables on multiple projects at any given time.
- Other duties as appropriate for this position.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Civil Engineering with a municipal infrastructure and transportation designing focus will be preferred.
- Must hold an active P.Eng designation with the ability to practice in the province of New Brunswick or Nova Scotia.
- 5-10 years’ experience in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of linear water main and sewer projects is essential in the consulting industry.
- Experience managing projects and working in AutoCAD, Microstation and InRoads design.
- Must be proficient in design engineering for large municipal and provincial agencies.
- Must possess practical knowledge of construction sequencing and constructability.
- Familiar with local design and construction standards and requirements for permits and approvals.
- Must possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients.
- Aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development and other skills appropriate to consulting.
- Experience with trenchless technologies and tunneling would be an asset.
- Experience in trunk watermain and trunk sewer design is preferred.
- Proven, advanced level Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment.
- Other duties as assigned that are relevant to the position.
