Summary

The Compression Services Operations Manager provides technical and operational expertise, and champions service excellence, creating customer satisfaction. This position efficiently deploys equipment, materials, and personnel to job sites with a focus of optimizing costs and maximizing manpower utilization. The Compression Services Operations Manager is typically responsible for one or more specific service delivery processes such as Basic Preventive Maintenance, Call Out/Repair and Overhauls.   

Reports to:  Grande Prairie Branch Manager

Supervises: Field Service Technicians & Parts Team Division

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, and guidance to the compression branch team.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of the parts and service departments to create a positive work environment.
  • Coordinates deployment of equipment, materials and personnel to the job site at optimum utilization and minimum cost.
  • Compiles and conveys job-specific information to Field Service Technicians, other Service Managers and/or Senior Manager(s).
  • Coordinates work with other Service Managers/Coordinators to minimize equipment downtime and most effectively utilize personnel.
  • Responsible for providing employee feedback.
  • Implements, manages and communicates performance measures for the compression team.
  • Champions service excellence, health, safety, environmental policies, standards and process improvement.
  • Accountable for implementation and execution of annual budget, and Operational Standards and Processes.
  • Serves as a contact for customer and provides technical/operation expertise in response to customer inquiries and field technicians.
  • Provide solutions and resolution to customer complaints and concerns
  • Determine staffing and equipment requirements
  • Manage relationships with external customers and prospects
  • Prospect new customers for growth
  • Maintain and track customer equipment accurately throughout the respective territory
  • Implement and execute sales strategies and provide feedback to the management team
  • Interface with customers in a timely manner to resolve issues that may arise and achieve customer satisfaction
  • Negotiate and finalize sales contracts as required
  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly meetings with local branch personnel
  • Identify and support opportunities for cross-selling all product lines thereby increasing market share for branch.
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the branch
  • Participates in management reviews of KPIs with team, develops and executes action plans for improvement.
  • Provide strong communication in the following areas:
    • Customer:  Provide operational expertise, as well as Pre & Post job call backs
    • Field Sales:  Specific sales needs
    • Service Techs:  Job specific information, feedback and training needs
    • Materials Coordinator/Manager:  Resources/material needs
    • Region Operations Manager:  Coordinates needs
    • Service Managers:  Optimize plans & schedules, Policy & Process Requirements, Performance Measures, Best practices
    • Service Quality Manager:  Personnel issues, Work Quality of Personnel, Performance Metrics, Problem Jobs

 

Required Skills or Tools:

  • Excellent Leadership capabilities with proven coaching and mentoring skills
  • Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.) and PC skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and scheduling, process management and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical abilities, mechanical aptitude combined and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management and branch departments

 

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright
  • Planning & Scheduling experience preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in customer relations
  • 5-7 years of required technical experience in natural gas compression
  • Minimum 5 years in a progressive supervisory/managerial role with P&L responsibility. 
  • Some travel required
  • Must be able to work under pressure
