Manager - Building Engineering Services

We are seeking an experienced, accomplished, and self-motivated Senior Manager to take on the (new) role of developing and managing our growing Building Engineering Services market sector. This position is part of the senior management team and would work closely with our senior managers of our Structural, Mechanical and Electrical departments. In this role is you would be responsible for leading the growth and raising the profile of our building engineering services market sector and shaping the future direction of Tatham.

This position will oversee the management, growth and development of our Building Engineering Services market sector. This will include working in close collaboration with our Structural, Mechanical and Electrical departments while building a team of group leaders, project managers, and technical support staff specifically in the building engineering services market. This position may also include Project Management for select building projects as required.

The Manager – Building Engineering Services will be a progressive, collaborative, energetic, and entrepreneurial-minded professional engineer with at least 10-15 years of consulting experience in the field of building engineering. The applicant can be either a structural, mechanical or electrical engineer by training but would benefit from having general knowledge in all areas with a specific focus and knowledge of the Ontario Building Code

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Communicate regularly with Group Leaders and Project Managers to provide updates on actions and strategies to achieve group goals and targets
• Develop and execute quarterly business plans, set goals and targets for the group as established to expand both services provided and market areas
• Communicate regularly with other Senior Managers and Branch Office Managers to discuss items of mutual interest - sharing resources, technical support, business development activities, etc.
• Assist and monitor Project Managers with respect to establishing and tracking budgets, schedules, staff utilization and profitability targets as set through discussions with the Executive Team
• Develop, manage, lead, train, discipline, mentor and motivate all members of the group
• Manage and complete projects as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager
• Lead business development and raise the profile of the building engineering market sector and the company

Key Position Requirements:

• Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant  engineering experience in either structural, mechanical or electrical  engineering
• P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario is preferred, will also consider CET, PMP or related
• Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards (Ontario Building Code)
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Experience with business development, project management and leadership
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
