Senior Civil Engineer
The Power and Transportation Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Civil Engineer with +15 years’ experience in the design of large dams and appurtenant structures and a broad knowledge of other related disciplines, including dam safety reviews, and assessments. Experience on site assignments domestically and internationally for hydro projects (domestically and internationally) is considered an asset.
Duties will include:
- Leading and collaborating with diverse teams of discipline engineers, designers, and drafters from conceptual design through preliminary and final design and engineering
- Acting as a technical resource within their project team(s)
- Providing progress reports to Clients and to senior management at regular intervals
- Attending site visits, gathering information as required to complement the related design activities
- Communicating and collaborating with clients in a professional manner
- Complying with company-established quality management systems throughout a project, and suggesting/implementing improvements as appropriate
- Travelling within Canada and internationally
- Leading Dam Safety Review Assignments & Associated Documentation
- Senior Reviews of KCB deliverables and designs
If you are currently registered, or eligible to be registered, as a Professional Engineer in BC, have a Bachelor’s degree in hydrotechnical or civil engineering, we want to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong technical knowledge and detailed design capabilities in one field of civil engineering
- Have large conventional hydro and pump storage experience (i.e., over 50−100 MW)
- Ability to interface with other disciplines and understand the electrical, civil-structural, geotechnical, and mechanical design aspects and drawings of a project
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and with Clients
- Proven record of project management and client management
- Effective verbal and written communications skills in English, with demonstrated competent report writing skills
- Extensive design and site experience
- Experience leading and undertaking dam safety reviews and inspections in British Colombia, other Canadian provinces and internationally.
- Business development experience e.g., writing, and leading proposals
- Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products
- The capability to manage $1Million+ projects
- Able to work in the Vancouver office with some flexibility to work from home per KCB’s Flexible Work Arrangement Working from home policy.
